Question by ademkazaz84: What is the most economic option for lighting the outside and the garden of a factory?
What is the most economic option for lighting the outside and the garden of a factory?

Best answer:

Answer by Elliegta
By economic, do you mean “short-term” as in small outlay at the beginning, or over time having it cost you less in diminished energy costs…?

There are LED lights available that cost more up-front, but only consume minimal wattage and have extremely long timetimes to them, and they are water-resistant. Perhaps the flex-strip would work best for you…? Depends on whether you want security lighting, or just ambient…check out the link below.

Small Garden Tips – How Do You Make The Most of a Small Vegetable Garden Space?

Question by Lia A: Small Garden Tips – How Do You Make The Most of a Small Vegetable Garden Space?
Like what new methods or innovations do you use to ensure that your soil space isn’t that small for a decent garden.

Best answer:

Answer by Shirin
Container gardening is a great way to have your own garden irrespective of soil space. Dwarf varieties of many vegatables grow quite well in containers as long as there’s enough space between them.

1. Beans, peas & tomatoes grow in the ground without taking up much space

2. Radishes, spinach, dwarf carrots & onions grow well in window boxes that are large and deep

Take a look at lasagna gardening & organic gardening for popular alternatives. The former utilizes a compost heap while the latter saves you the trouble of fertilizers & pesticides.

Mockingbirds are not attracted to feeders. They are insectivores. You can encourage then to come around more often by providing lots of shrubs and bushes. Also, don’t use insecticides. Holly is just fine.

What is the best food to put in Bird Feeders to attract the most Birds?

Question by Patricia M: What is the best food to put in Bird Feeders to attract the most Birds?
I live in upstate N.Y. and feed birds all winter what food will attract the most birds?

Best answer:

Answer by Yogi T
We use a very good no corn mix from Agway, It’s their own mix and the name escapes me for the moment. We get Blue Jays, cardinals, 3 kinds of woodpeckers, doves, chickadees and a few other varieties plus the usual sparrows and finches. Black oil sunflower seed attacts many also but the shells make a big mess and there is a lot of waste. Don’t waste your money on the cheap mixes . It gets wasted and the very beautiful birds go where they serve the good stuff. They learn fast. We also serve suet cakes in a suet cage and my leftover parrot pellets in adish on the ground for the bigger birds like doves. It takes a little time to get a feeder established but once you do it will be busy. I live in the Niagara Falls -Buffalo area. Good Luck

Just Like Most Hobbies, Bird Feeding is Engaging

Just Like Most Hobbies, Bird Feeding is Engaging

You can easily start bird feeding and bird watching if you want it to be one of your newest hobbies. But bird feeding is not as easy as it appears. Having this as this as the basis, we will be bringing up replies to some of the primary questions with regard to ornamental bird feeders such as Droll Yankee bird feeders and Opus bird feeders. Most likely, your first inquiry will be how to call the attention of the birds toward your well decorated Opus bird feeders. The key is placement. Your feeder should be positioned such that they fall right in line with the view the birds, which is quite high. Put the feeders where the birds can get an adequate amount of sunshine because they love this. Close to flower gardens is the perfect spot of nectar laden Opus bird feeders as shown in Figure 1.

The key here has a lot to do with the feeder type and the bird classification you intend to see in your garden. For instance, if you wanted to have cardinals then you can put on some black oil sunflower seeds while if you wanted to have humming birds instead, you can use juicy fruits and nectar fluids. Your goal of having a great variety of birds moving toward your Opus bird feeders can be done by placing a combination of nuts, seeds and cracked corns up to the capacity of your feeder. If what you have are the mini feeders, stick to only a tiny amount of feeds. Unique feeders also are paired with specialized bird feeds.

Owners of feeders that use bird seeds normally notices some new sprouts in a few days which they attribute to seeds that fall on the ground from their feeders. You will now be wondering how come this is happening and if there is anything you can do about it. Remember, you want the seeds to be eaten by the birds, not to grow in your backyard.

In the list of bird feeds are flower seeds and the aforementioned black oil sunflower seeds are great examples. The seeds just need to be heated in a microwave oven for three to five minutes.

Another interesting question that you may pose is how to clean your Opus bird feeders. The two steps for effective maintenance of feeders are not hard to remember. The steps include getting rid of the old seeds and immersing the feeder in water and bleach. Another frequently asked question about bird feeding is how to protect the birds from likely predators. Included in this predator list are your pet cat, raccoons, leaping squirrels, tiny bats that hover during the night and other insects like bees or ants. One effective technique to keep these furry animals out is a plan to confuse them paired with regularly cleaning to turn off the bats and insects. We hope that the questions above about bird feeding and starting with your Opus bird feeders will be enough for the time being. You can always inquire from the Internet should you have any particular question. The retail stores know the effective solutions to the pressing concerns that you might encounter regarding your purchased feeders.

How to Make the Most Out of a Humble Garden Bench

How to Make the Most Out of a Humble Garden Bench

A classic garden bench is just about the simplest piece of garden furniture you can get. But it can also be one of the most versatile when you use a little imagination. Leading online retailer of quality garden furniture Rawgarden (http://www.rawgarden.co.uk/) tells you how to make the most out of a humble garden bench.

– consider where you place a garden bench as this could affect how much use you get out of it. Instead of thinking what the bench looks like in a certain part of the garden, think about what you can see from the bench. For instance, if you painstakingly tend to a flowerbed or vegetable patch, why not enjoy the fruits of your labour by placing a bench with a full view of the bed or patch – or indeed any favourite spot of the garden. Not only will this get you using your bench more, but you’ll also be getting the most out of the garden itself.

]]>

– well-placed benches can give you a front row seat for your very own back-garden wildlife show. Many gardens, even urban ones, are visited by a huge array of wildlife, from everyday birds, butterflies and insects to the more exciting appearance of foxes, hedgehogs and other furry creatures. A partially concealed bench (and a little patience!) can give you the opportunity to watch wildlife in your own garden. And if you aren’t lucky enough to be visited by that many of god’s creatures, why not invite some to visit with a bird table, bird bath or even a saucer of milk, all in view of your slightly hidden garden bench.

– a wooden bench can be very plain, but it can also be a great blank canvas for a little creative expression. Paint your bench white and distress it or lime wash it for a ‘shabby chic’ cottage look or paint each wooden slat a different colour of the rainbow to bring a smile to the kids’ faces. Choose a block colour carefully and you can even evoke a faraway country in one little bench, especially when you explore the theme around it. For instance, to bring a Greek feel, paint it faded aqua blue and place some bleached white stones around it. For a Spanish feel, go for a deep terracotta colour and arrange some potted geraniums nearby. And one of the bright primary colours when offset with some succulent cacti can bring a little bit of Mexico to your garden. Benches are often cheaper than other pieces of garden furniture so you can feel free to experiment with paint a little more.

– finally, garden benches make beautiful memorials to someone who has passed away. You could choose a memorial bench for use in a loved one’s favourite park with a plaque bearing their name or one of their favourite quotes. However, even a simple, unmarked bench in your own back garden can provide a focal point for remembering the life of a loved one while surrounded by nature.

Who knew the humble garden bench could offer so much? At Rawgarden, you’ll find a garden bench suitable for every type of use: memorial benches, budget benches ready for painting, benches for extra seating and ones which are comfortable enough to spend hours sitting in.
