How do i keep birds away from my?

Question by pregnant with my baby boy Jacob Adrian Aguero: How do i keep birds away from my?
Garden I have put scare crows and they still come any suggestions?

Answer by MrsM
I’m assuming this is a vegetable garden. Maybe you can plant some flowers that attract the birds to those, instead….and provide bird seed in another place in your yard so they don’t destroy your crops. Not sure where you are, but the cooler seasons are approaching…and you may be without crops and birds, soon. What types of vegetable are these? Are you able to grow any indoors?

If you live in N. America, birds nest in the spring, so will use bird houses during that time to build a nest in. Keep in mind only cavity nesters will use bird houses. Cavity nesters are wrens, chickadees, swallows, bluebirds, nuthatches, etc. You can look on this site and put in your zip code and it will tell you what type of birds are found in your area:

Q&A: Cat just brought in 2 dead baby birds, and one live one, What can we do?

Question by Broken Pearls: Cat just brought in 2 dead baby birds, and one live one, What can we do?
I believe cats should be allowed to go outside if they wish, so please dont say “OMG cats shouldnt go outside” I live in the UK, its alot different to the US. Erm, Basically its a baby bird, i couldnt guess what type of bird it is, or how old, but at the minute, my mam has just picked it up on a shovel and put it over the hedge out of the garden, The bird is shaking and not really moving, & ive looked around for a nest or a mother bird, but cannot find one. Vets near by charge £50 straight up to see a non domesticated animal, which we do not have, what can we possibly do? Im afraid the bird is suffering, and I dont think it has much hope in this area, due to almost every house having a cat in this street?
I am not going to snap off the birds head, that is an awful idea. I do think the bird is only injured, and may be able to survive itself. I am not going to kill it!
I asked my mam if we could bring it in, but with over 6 animals in the house who are all very “hunt” striven, i really doubt the bird would last long in this house.

well dont let it suffer!

what you have to do is place the bird on the ground and cut off it head as fast and sharp as you can with that shovel to put it out of its misery. My sick grandmother used to do that with her kittens when her cats would have babies…except she’d line em up and use one of those long snow shovels

Cat repellent that does not deter birds?

Question by Noah_Scape: Cat repellent that does not deter birds?
I have a bird feeder above my flower/tomato windowbox, which is at ground level. The cats like to poop in the soil there, and I am worried that the cats will kill some birds too.
I am concerned about using most cat repellents because they might harm, or deter, the birds. Cayenne pepper, for example, could be bad for the birds.
Is there some herb, or whatever, that will keep the cats away but not deter or harm the birds?

Best answer:

Answer by Napoleon
Hey there ! That’s what I have been using for ages and I’m personally pleased with that :
20 -lemon oil
10 drops -capsicum (Liquid) which is cayenne pepper
20 drops -eucalyptus oil
1 quart -Water
Mix, shake well. May be sprayed on furniture, carpet, upholstery.
These are approximate amounts. Experiment.
Hope it helps!

I like to listen them singing and I noticed that when I am in a garden and in good mood and caring about a big rose blossom they come to sing especially interesting melodies.
Excuse me to give details after reading the first 5 answers- question I have tried to offer people with scientific interests, but also to these that like tales as Japanese ” The Imperor’s Bird and the Rose”- to write some nice fantasy…

my cat wont stop murdering birds!?

by Sids1

Question by Squishy: my cat wont stop murdering birds!?
i have a garden cat (who refuses to live indoors) and she comes home daily with dead birds in her mouth!

we were okay with her hunting mice in the garden, but birds!
first it was the small birds that hop around then pigeons etc..

sometimes she eats them and sometimes she leaves them on the doorstep as gifts for us!

and sometimes she just plays with them leaving them injured and alive!
tonight she caught a pigeon (yes at night.. dont ask how), she played with it and just left it.

The poor pigeon cannot fly or anything and my dad had to kill it with an axe to spare it further pain. =(

I felt horrible after i saw that! what if the pigeon had chiks?!

that is besides that the bird could be sick (bird flu?)

How do i stop her from hunting birds?! =(
i dont force her to stay outside!!

she refuses to go inside!! she goes crazy and pees everywhere!

inside is not an option! i would rather have her killing birds!
i feed her enough! she doesnt hunt the birds for food!

she just enjoys it =l

it is VERY SIMPLE! KEEP YOUR CAT INSIDE! it isn’t hard for cats to get use to being inside, it is mostly because of lazy owners that don’t want to make the house interesting for the cat.
